Good day,

I currently have my 2330 Level 2 certificate and Im wanting to qualify as an electrician.
I have worked on construction, domestic and commercial, for 2 years as and Improver and Im currently working in Building Services as an Electrical maintenance engineer and this where I will probably stay as Im with a good company.

Now that I have saved up money and want to finish my studies I am a bit fazed by what course to take really. Do I enrol for the Electrical Installation 2330 Level 3 or NVQ3 2355 course?

I am also wanting to do the 17th Edition and Testing & Inspection 2391.

I have been told by someone that if you do the 2330 Level 3, 17th Edition and 2391 Testing & Inspection, you will be able to work as an Electrician but will not be seen as an approved Electrician. In order to be an approved/registered Electrican you have to do the NVQ3 2355.

Now can someone assist me with my query, perhaps clear it up for me and possibly advise me what to do?

NVQ L3 2356 is needed to get a JIB card. if i were you i'd enroll on the 2330 L3 and the NVQ 3 now(or in sept, whenever the course starts), do your 17th edition sometime over the next year, and then this time next year you''l be an "approved electrician"

If you do a search on these forums you will find that this question is asked a lot!

To become a JIB graded 'electrician' you will need

2330 Level 2 and 3
17th Edition
NVQ Level 3 2356

Then if you were to achieve 2391 and have been a JIB graded 'electrician' for two years you will then become an 'approved electrician'.

I do not know anything about these domestic installer schemes so you will have to ask in these forums if your looking into that also.

2355 you mean 2356?
basically it is to show you can work safely and properly as an electrician. if it were not compulsory you could literary not work a day as a electrician and become one.
