Crimping 240volt FTE

recently crimped a 2.5mm FTE cable together as it had been drilled in half by a plumber, just want to check do the crimps need mechanical protection i.e in trunking or JB?

Crimps are classed as a permanent connection and can be buried in the wall.I always tend to put some capping over it,that's me,others may have a different view.

As far as i know they dont 'need' protection. they will provide as much protection as PVC shield.
