Hello, my mate just give me a call, they said every week or 2 there light fitting in living room blows a bulb which has its top blown off, this then trips out all down stairs lights, going to have a look at it soon, but could it just be a dodgy light fitting??

One cause which has a solution is if they have a box of cheap GU10 halogen bulbs with no fused suppressor on. These produce a huge current surge when they burn out, and will normally trip mcb's as well as burning out dimmer switches.
