Has it all been fully rewired or have the circuits all been extended, hence the blue brown? Just wandering why there is no RCD protection on the board.

Got asked to reconnect an outbuilding that the previous owners has disconnected from the house. No problem, new swa to the outbuilding and garage C/U fitted but had to laugh when I saw the existing set up. Apparently it was disconnected to get a satisfactory EICR for the house sale rather than fix the many faults.

Yeah water cooler, pulled it forward when pat testing then I noticed the lid was hanging off.

Two more

Fuseboard had signs of burning inside and the main cable was burnt near the end and at some point I guess the original main switch burnt out and somebody changed the switch and stuck the cable back in. Luckily the property was getting a full rewire so it was all ripped out.

Not sure how dangerous but rather unusual http://i.Upload the image directly to the thread.com/IwTt24F.jpg
Working on my mastery of the bleeding obvious - I go for 132.11 Prevention of mutual detrimental influence, so water and leccie should not be in same confinement. And since water pipe might leak, IP rating not sufficient. Thoughts?

Love the upside down socket! In the first photo it's possible the 2 sockets were fed from an FCU. I'm guessing this wasn't the case though. Daz

Or perhaps were part of a radial rather than a ring? Still rough as though. I've installed a couple upside down sockets before as the need dictated.

Are these steel toe cap pink slippers, and do they match your top????
I'm afraid they don't match.

However, I recently bought a pair of these steelies:
http://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/site-sapphire-safety-trainers-navy-size-8/15017

They're great for working in furnished houses. I don't like having to remove shoes when I'm working. They look really low key, so most people don't mind me wearing them, and they have a shallow tread, so don't pick up muck.

Got a call out to a house where the RCD tripped instantly when the MCB was turned on for the kitchen ring. Investigated the fault, located it was something load side of the boiler fused supr. Took the cover off the boiler to check the wiring and find this:

Blocked condenser leaked milky water alllllll over the electrical connections.

I think that's a bad habit you have. ;)

Found this behind an old consumer unit NOT ACCESSIBLE OR VISIBLE:

A freaking henley block! Luckily there was enough slack on the existing meter tails to connect to the new consumer unit without having to replace them.

Awesome. Never seen a MF Henley block before, maybe you should invent one, there's clearly demand for them!

Another quality install by the data boys!

I'm more surprised that volex board didn't catch fire

"Pride" isn't part of the curriculum on the training courses yet

I think it's more a case of your frame of mind. Some people on my course don't give 2 fecks. Those are the ones the tutors tend to not bother helping much. The ones who care and take pride are the ones who receive the extra advice/guidance and in most cases get pushed more

There is a place we do work in where someone has connected a 6mm armoured cable to supply a distribution board, directly to the incoming supply, relying on the cutout fuses for protection. The cable is about 40M long...

I come across that fairly frequently doing EICRs, even where there are spare ways. Do people really think that it's ok
