OK I will bite, what are the Green/Yellows by passing the RCD for.My own dodgy pic. Been testing an empty school with a non time delayed 100ma main switch rcd on TT. It was being a right royal pain in the --- so I took it out of the equation, safe me thinks so.View attachment 100878
Did he have a machine gun?had a customer call to say she had a kitchen fitter in to fit a new cupboard around the boiler and he thinks he may of hit a cable
So after chopping out two layers of tiles and some dot and dab found thisView attachment 100816
To stop nuisance tripping whilst testing. It is not time delayed and it kept tripping before the rcbos plus it made testing of the non rcbo circuits easier.OK I will bite, what are the Green/Yellows by passing the RCD for.
Really odd set up the cabling went from the consumer unit over the fence and into the garage behind supplying lighting and another double socket in 1mm t&e which the owner has been plugging a 13A EV car charging lead intoLooks like an old builders site temp ?

This is a strange one, seeing as it's been in and operating for years.
Found it today, in operation, of course.

electrical conduit from China? There's a gas pipe going into that socket!
You mean an impact, Surely? The face fixings screws where probably tightened with a torque screwdriver.
You mean an impact, Surely?
(Go on… someone say it!)
Clearly stupid as they did it to both screws without learning from the 1st!You mean an impact, Surely?

People have some weird ideas. Not much work on so give the lads paint and brushes to make things look a bit tidier and that's the result....It doesn't cover up the sh8te standard of work of the additions and alterations, though. It's a few years back now but some RCD sockets had to be changed after being painted over. There's a gas pipe going into that socket!
So they have a job changing the RCD socket, eh? Swap it, fix it back....oh, the lugs have snapped.....let's just leave it????The face fixings screws where probably tightened with a torque screwdriver.
24v impact would have been the weapon of choice to mangle those massive 3.5mm box screws and lugsThe face fixings screws where probably tightened with a torque screwdriver.
I hate it when tube and trunking is painted the same as the wall..... trunking and tube needs to stand out....its a work of artI do some work at a couple sport centres and when it has been quiet instead of the staff sitting around picking their ears they have been painting all the door frames , conduits , surface trunkings and ever light switches and sockets BLUE to match the walls

When recently on a day trip to York, I amazed my daughters by requesting a visit to Urban Outfitters.I hate it when tube and trunking is painted the same as the wall..... trunking and tube needs to stand out....its a work of art
Go into most modern re-fitted shops like Hollister and they have pulled the old fashion suspended ceilings down you will see lots of galv conduit and tray re-exposed and on showWhen recently on a day trip to York, I amazed my daughters by requesting a visit to Urban Outfitters.
"Why????" they said. "It's the most amazing maze of galv conduit I've ever seen, I could stare at it all day...." I replied.
Sadly I don't have a photo and can't find one online.
It was similar to this but biggerWhen recently on a day trip to York, I amazed my daughters by requesting a visit to Urban Outfitters.

It would be interesting to see how that lot terminates etc.It was similar to this but bigger

Damn i was just about to say 11 in each ...One less termination on LH neutral bar, than outgoing lines on MCBs.
Edit: On the fifth count I can see that's not the case
I was just about to say the same thing................2.5 sq mm T+E hanging off a B32 for oven and microwave?
Correct. I saw that about 30 secs after I took the board cover off.2.5 sq mm T+E hanging off a B32 for oven and microwave?
Forgive me asking, but did you test both IR and continuity to rule out something plugged in?On the socket ring the L-N was a dead short
Yes, and I got them to unplug everything in the kitchen anyway.Forgive me asking, but did you test both IR and continuity to rule out something plugged in?
It's not upside down, just not correctly fitted. And it looks like the Hager blank is upside down.
If you look at the blank on the bottom it says "This way up for CU" the way it is fitted says "This way up for TPI"It's not upside down, just not correctly fitted.
Thanks for the heads up. I really hope for the customer that isn’t the case as it will be a nightmare for them. High end kitchen in place since it was done in 2012.I had this sort of thing at a friends old house a few years ago - dead short that just made no sense, lifted boards and could physically see end to end the section of cable in question, undisturbed for 30 years. New length drawn in, examine the old..... after peeling off the outer sheath it revealed a manufacturing defect internally, one of the conductors was missing about 3mm of insulation. No idea how it had suddenly come to light after all that time.
Where is that / what is it on?Somebody had previously put heatshrink to low on the lug resulting in two phases getting very hot!
Cleaned up and put back
Yeah it is a 777-200, IDG cables on a GE90 engineWhere is that / what is it on?
Looks vaguely aircraft-like.
Where?You need some red sleeving.
I think he means instead of the brown to be more inkeeping with the old coresWhere?
