just wondering if anyone can shed light on moving to Portugal as an electrician im qualified in the uk but not sure how that will translate to there ??

No1 requirement before even considering the electrical side of things, is being able to speak the lingo!! lol!!

As for assessing your electrical qualifications to those of Portugal, as well as any other hoops and loops you may need to go through. Your best bet is to get the information from the horses mouth so to speak, contact the Portuguese Consulate/Embassy or check out their website....
 
First learn the language and then get a job with a local spark to find your way around the differences. Once you have done this and got to grips with the different methods/practices, then you can consider going it alone. This is what I did in France and it worked for me.
