Can you see any problems in connecting the batteries in emergency lights 3 or 4 days prior to switching on the power supply?

Thanks

I think that it would very much depend on which units they are. Some of the units I have fitted recently do not draw current from the batteries until they have been powered up on the mains. The trick seems to see if the fittings light up when you connect the batteries when fitting them before they receive power. Otherwise I not certain how much harm would be done to let the batteries run down on their initial charge that they come with.

I've always done it and never had a problem with it, must admit its never been more than a day or so but i would think that makes no difference if its going to completely drain anyway. I get the point for asking as some jobs are hard to access if your fitting quite a few on an install, i dont think sometimes it can be helped. When installing a full test must be made after charging as part of the sign off and they always last longer than the design time. Well the ones i have fitted anyway.
