filling out certificates

hi, i have been filling out some practice certificates at work today and have some questions before i go for training. i was looking at a BS1361 main fuse,
how can you tell if it is type 1 or 2...it wasnt written on it.
what is the normal time recommended to put on a certificate of when a new installation needs to be re-tested?

if domestic 10 years till next test. for fuse it should be written on it(normaly on the side), you as electrician are not supposed to touch it. if unknown write unknown

The main difference really is that a 230 volts the rupture capacity is 16Ka and at 400v it is 33Ka

The time for the first inspection is determined by the designer of the installlation, so for domestic new install it most likely be 10 yrs. For commercial/industrial it will depend on the enviroment and could be for a new install 5 yrs.

If your doing a PIR then you would take each installation at it's own merit and set up the next date on many things, enviroment, condition etc etc

Hi,

If the the BS1361 fuse is in single phase ( 230v ) it will most certainly be 16.5kA and that is a type 1, if its a 3 phase ( 400v ), then its 33kA and a type 2. OSG, table 7.4 page 57.
