Well, been the past 3 days for the basic electrical installation workshop at OLCi at newcastle and done really well! Thought that I would be a bit unsure but I completed all the tasks well within my comfort zone! We done

* Loop in light circuit with single switch control using PVC TC+E
* Loop in light circuit with 2 switch control using PVC TC+E
* Loop in light circuit with 3 switch control (2x 2way and intermediate) with strappers using PVC TC+E and 3C+E
* Steel conduit setup with 4x single socket ring main using single 2.5mm conductors.
* Steel conduit single light and 3 switch control (as above) and a single light single switch loop in light circuits in 1.5mm singles.
* MICC/MICS assembly and terminations.

All of the above we tested using BS7671 Onsite guide etc and recorded the results.

All in all a very productive 3 day and I've come home and booked all the rest of my practical dates from now till february! Unfortunately I have to travel to Leeds for my first UP2 session but the next date wasn't till March - 7 weeks away!!

Anyone else booked onto these courses on the following dates? These are my dates.......

UP1 (Newcastle) January 18th & 19th = 2 days.
UP2 #1 (Leeds) January 27th - 29th = 3 days.
UP2 #2 (Newcastle) February 1st - 3rd = 3 days.
UP3/4 Assesment (Newcastle) February 6th & 7th = 2 days.

The practicals are giving me the motivation I needed since i've had my head in my books since October and was getting a bit sick to be honest!! Roll on my next one next week!!

Thanks.

PS: Any tips would be greatly appreciated from anyone that has done any similar courses recently too.
