HJ Solar PV Panels

Does anyone have any knowledge of or experience of HJ Solar PV panels?
Made by Hengji PV - Tech Energy Co, Lianshi Industrial Zone, Huzhou, China.
What about efficiency compared with, for example, Sanyo and Sharp?
Any information would be very helpful.

I've never heard of them, I can't find any data sheets and they're not listed on PV Sol.

Doesn't fill me with confidence but they may well be superb.

We've installed loads of them on our commercial installs and quite a few on domestic, we test every panel on every installation and never had a fault - only problem was when one of the lads put a forklift through one!

They're well built, and from a company that makes it's own cells as well as panels, and are one of the larger chinese maunfacturers, (compared to a lot of others) with over 300MW of capacity. Their biggest markets to date have been Germany and Italy with a number of very large installations, as such they recieved 'bankability' status - i.e the banks are more than happy to lend when they are used in an installation.

Here's an update for you, it;s something we hadn't done beofre, yet I got an email through saying how important th Fill Factor (FF%) is - FF is not just about the size efficiency it's also to do with how well it converts the light into power, so using their calculations I ran the HJ panels through their analysis

3.Fill Factor
This is a key parameter when we compare different brands of solar cells in terms of their performance. The fill factor is defined as the power of the solar cell (STC) divided by the product of the open circuit voltage and the short circuit current.
Cells with a high fill factor have a low equivalent series resistance and a high equivalent shunt resistance, so less of the current produced by light is dissipated in internal loses. Graphically we can see higher values of the FF means that the I-V curve gets more squared so the maximum power point (MPP as we explained in previous documents) increases

They came second behing Sanyo in 'Panel efficiency' (w/m2) and third Fill factor (FF%)

Clearly an alternative for those struggling to get hold of Suntech's

Just discovered that I actually have these installed and not the aSun panels I thought I was getting (shows how much attention I was paying to the MCS paperwork).

I just saw the Chinese name and assumed it was the same company. Reassuring to see they perform well.

Your welcome, - we've got some installed on our own installations, so we don't just install them for others we do walk the talk!
We now have installed on our own premises: HJ Solar, Sunrise Solartech, BBPV, Canadian Solar, and on the inverter side: SMA, Power-One and SolarEdge. The monitoring is interesting!

These panels also have a particularly low running current which means they are one of the few 250's which will work for a small scale install running something like a steca or soladin 600 inverter. Good to know that they perform well (thanks to worcester)

Voc and Vmp to make up for the low current! - Useful as you only need a few panels to wake up the inverters!

also good for getting the peak efficiency out of a 2 x 8 panel string on a 4000TL or Aurora 3.6.

Performance wise they are similar to Suntech STP250S-20/WD Solar Panels.

The Black H J Solar HJM 250 panels are aesthetically pleasing, and look nice on roofs.

We used these last week for the first time and I was impressed by how robust the frames are, they felt quite sturdy and had little torsional flex when compared to other brands such as Schott.

Little to no difference in panel width found (not like some of the Sharp panels around last year). The male MC4 plugs can be a little tight to mate and the way they secure the leads in transit makes them as curly as pigs tails which is a bit annoying when you're up on the roof with a mouth full of zip ties!
