installing an EV CHARGING POINTS

Hi all and thanks for letting me join your forum. I am an old school electrician who has now retired.
So I need some advice, please. I have just moved into a new build house.
It has a 6mm swa cable that terminates in a waterproof box at the side of the house, which then feeds the garage. it s on its own 32A circuit with a type A RCD protecting it.
Is there any reason why I cannot run a second 6mm swa from the box on side of the house to a car charging point?
Seeing that the garage and the car being charged would never be used at the same time?

It’s far from ideal, a lot of people have freezers and tumble driers in the garage, not an inconsequential load as you are aware.
could you not install the charger from the garage distribution board?
many come with a current sensing clamp and could be configured to reduce its usage if other loads were on at the same time.

Depends on what else you'd use this 32A supply in the garage for.

IF and thats quite an important If the swa feeding garage is 6mm SWA then the OCPD could potentially be uprated to give some room for ev charger and other appliances.
The zappi is the first option that comes to mind as you can fit multiple ct clamps. 1 for the main service fuse but also one for the garage consumer unit/feed so that the charger and other garage loads will not overload the garage supply. you treat the garage board as a 'group' in the settings. if combined loads in the garage reach the OCPD rating then the charger throttles down until safe to go back up to the max limit. since most people charge overnight its likely any other loads would be during the day so not be an issue anyway.
