Thought others may appreciate this bit of handiwork I found in the loft today....
This was controlling all of the upstairs lights, yes the wires you see hanging out are live and were left exactly as you see it. the four wires leading away from the board were servicing what I can only describe as an aquarium UV blacklight (as a main bathroom light! well at least it would be I.P rated I suppose . As being fairly new I was a bit stumped to what was mounted on the board and have since discovered that it appears to be the inner workings taken from a commercial / industrial light fitting.
The property has lots of commercial fittings which I think have been half inched or left over from jobs. Apparently the previous owner was an electrician, though I have my doubts. The lighting circuits will have to be a total rewire as the cpc has been stripped out, really nice property but lots of sockets in weird places, live wires left exposed etc...total renovation being done.
