Legality of using a lighting circuit to power an observatory?

I have a lighting circuit cable (1mm) powering a telescope (12 volts) in an observatory total draw 84 watts drawn from a transformer. There is a 6 amp fuse in the consumer unit. This was installed in 1998 by a qualified electrician. Is this still legal or should it be upgraded?

Courtesy of a recent change in the regs, it wasn't allowed then, but it is now.
Up until the change, the minimum csa, for anything other than a lighting circuit, was 1.5mm2, but now that's changed to 1.0mm2.
There may be, of course, other things that could do with improvement by now, but this isn't one of them (anymore).
