Just looking for a bit of advice regarding a job I've been asked to quote for. Basically the job is to install a weather proof socket under the eaves of 15 separate households in a small village 5 mins away from me. The sockets will then supply Christmas lights which I have been told just plug in. A separate contractor will be installing said lights.

I went to have a look yesterday and had a walk through the village to see which houses needed these sockets installing. The majority of them are either small cottages or old farm type buildings. Without seeing the internals of each property I explained that it would be hard to give an accurate quote however, the chap just said quote for worst case scenario.

This job will be funded by the local council through a grant. What sort of figure would everyone suggest? I'm thinking between £200 and £250 per property allowing for the socket, potentially an rcd enclosure and other materials. This includes installation, testing and certification for each house. I would write the quote as a lump sum I think.

Should i I include in the quote any limitations? For example if the earthing arrangements need attention or if circuits aren't suitable to tag on too?

Its a bit of a blind one really and I'm quoting against two other contractors. Could be a nice summer job though and could mean fifteen potential future customers.

Any advice is much appreciated.

quote to fit RCD sockets with the proviso that if earthing and bonding require attention , it will be additional cost, subject to inspection of each property.

I would price each job separately as you would any other and total them up.
You could shoot yourself in the foot if you try and generalise.

Id love too, however it would be a complete waste of time to see 15 properties if I then didn't get the job. I like the rcd socket idea. That being said the other doubt I have is that these Christmas lights are leds and unless the power supplies are external to the socket then the lids won't shut however this would have to be a bridge crossed at a later date.

And possibly the houses are on one RCD or twin even, and the contractors fit crap............

Similar to Tel's suggestion quote for an RCD spur inside the house and a large enclosure outside single socket, this minimises the cost, permits some internal wiring sub surface if required.
Also if the earthing is not up to safe levels then this would be an additional cost in order to ensure regulatory compliance with the installation.
