LED Driver Issue

Hi everyone

I have some existing MR16 LED bulbs in 3 x Ikea spotlights, two of these are driven by a low voltage electronic transformers designed to power 4 x 20w halogens. I have three of these fittings, one of the older versions is fitted with a toroidal transformer. These lights consist of four bulbs in parallel mounted in fittings on two metal rails the metal rails carrying the LV suppply feed.

I have recently replaced the halogens with 4w LED's and on occasions the electronic transformers fail to power the lights unless I switch them on and off again, I have today replaced one of the electronic transformers with a LED driver hoping that this would rectify but now light is now flashing on and off. Any ideas where I am going wrong or how to rectify the issue please?

you need to match the drivers with the LEDs. there's loads of problems been highlighted recently about mismatching. trial and error is an expensive way to solve the problem.

Is the issue trying to run them in parallel or just the power rating of driver vs the combined wattage of the LED's, I have just put another electronic transformer in which is now working fine, Although I understand can reduce LED bulb life

I have with my down lights elsewhere, unfortunately the other half likes the fittings and as a trainee electrician I am apparently now able to fix these things, I think I will just stick with the electronic transformer which works and forget the LED drivers!

TLC have some 12V LED's that work without swapping Xformer.
Have used loads and they work OK, LEDlite MR16.
