Discuss Light Meter in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Luxmeters are quite useful when doing EMlight measurements.

You need one sensitive to measure down to 0.1Lux accurately. That would probably mean you'd need a resolution of 0.01Lux.

You'll be looking at spending £100+ for a reasonable instrument.

I do a lot of lighting for various types of requirements. I have a very good eye but when using the meter i can find dark spots easier. With Em you can at least confirm the light level, although its a pain in summer waiting for the sun to drop :)

I tend to work in supermarkets a lot doing energy saving works and use a Testo 540 meter to adjust the light levels down to the specified levels and that cost about £100 with the calibration certificate, but funnily enough never had to use it to test em lights yet

Since you'll only use it occasionally, just hire it when required. That way it's always callibrated.

Buy your own & with only occasional use you'll be having to have it callibrated every year or if you use it even less frequently then you're looking at callibration costs every time you use it.

Hihihi...same like me @phild
