Just after some info. Sick to death of writing out certs and need to get up to date. If anyone could help with some advice or opinions regarding value, ease of use, etc, I'd be much obliged.
Can't seem to find much about the NICEIC software on previous threads. Ian.

Depends on your computer skills tbh. I just make my own.
The NIC one's required you to keep purchasing all the time, so with regards to value I would say there is little.

Thanks Widdler, self taught so I call it computer kills. Just done a 32 page report, more to come, so I need to get something sorted, least problems the better. With NIC I believe you can print off on blank paper no messing about setting up forms for printer etc.

It's completely up to you which certification method you choose. The benefit of choosing your own is that you can brand them much more effectively, whilst NICEIC etc will have a little allowance for branding.
As long as it contains the minimum required by BS 7671 appendix 6 then it will be fine.

edit: - I've attached an old PIR of mine just as an example.

We use the NIC ones.
Have to pay a small fee (approx £8) for 50 certs once in a while.
Not the most user friendly of software, but OK
Slightly customisable (empasise on the slightly)
Looks official
Has some check boxes that are pointless and occasionally makes you wish for the ability to add some bits yourself.

Thanks D, just the sort of info I was after. Don't have much time to stare at a screen trying to decipher or design. In my situation maybe paying a little extra may save me a lot of time. I made some 'db summary' and 'defect comment' sheets of my own. Look ok but it took me ages.

why is you cpc the same reading as your r1 and rn when you,ve got 1.5mm cable on the sheet .? circuit 5
just an observation

but you still have to but your certification numbers ?? and how do you line up the cert on your printer for overprinting ? if its a bit out it will look bad.

Not sure how it is with the NICEIC but we're with the ECA and generate our own EIC, PIR and MWC numbers via the software (it counts upwards as a new cert is created). No overlaying required as it prints onto plain paper.

i know nic are doing software now that prints onto plain paper but you still have to buy the cert numbers

i went to one of there talks and a company ...not the nic , was selling them which i think is odd. i rang them and you still have to purchase the cert numbers from them

I use PIRFORM - Home - PIRform

This has a branding option for ELECSA, but I'm not sure about NICEIC. You can brand the sheets with your company logo. All the repetitive stuff (such as test equipment serial numbers) is pre-populated.

Handles EIC, MWC as well as PIRs (as the name might suggest!)

Hi dingledong

just to let you know that i worked for a well established firm who are NICEIC registered and they NEVER used nic certs or cert numbers (simply generated his own), they had custom ones designed by the boss, although nic did try to pressure him into using them he told them he was not going to and pointed out that his forms are compliant with BS7671 and asked if they would like to loose his annual subscription..... they soon backed down.

Good on him, when already paying hundreds or thousands a year you shouldn't be forced to buy a set of certificate or report numbers.
