Was just reading and watching about the poor young boy that died in a pub garden. :*(

My question is rcd or rcbo protection required on outside lighting in a commercial installations?

Say an ecir was done now on a commercial installation with existing outside lights would it be coded as a c2 or c3 or no code?

RCDs should be used for additional protection over and above ADS, i.e. to protect against persond touching live parts. said live parts should not be touchable anyway. in the case of the boy killed, ADS coupled with compliant installation of earthing should have prevented this tragedy.

For TN earthing systems and assuming ADS is provided by the protective device then additional rcd protection is not required in a non domestic scenario. This also assumes some Special Locations are not applicable.
