Hi,

I have got this DC to AC power inverter that draws excessive amount of power when I start up a motor.
The motor is a 1300W one and my other inverter draws 1800W on start up, the one with a problem takes 3200W.
It's a low frequency inverter with simple power board and a large coil. I have replaced capacitors in it (the same for the same) as previously the output tension was dropping, now it doesn't but why does it needs so much power?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

What type of motor - induction or universal (series brush) ?
How are you measuring the power?
Some inverters designs are more tolerant than others of low power-factor and therefore large motor loads with high startinhg currents can provoke unusual behaviour.
