r1 and r2 test on a lighting circuit in Metal conduit??

Hello,

When testing a lighting circuit wired in metal conduit and they are using the Conduit as an earth, is it acceptable too still link out live and earth at the mains board and test at light???

link at CU and test at all lights on the circuit, or use a wander lead and measure R2.

so its acceptable to use either way then really yea?

yes. the only difference is that the steel conduit is uses as cpc. be aware though that it may have been disconnected from an accessory by mr. DIY replacing any of the fittings.

And when your doing a Zs test you might just hear it arking through some rusty old joint.

I remember learning about the induced current test for this at college, I guess it would never be used now as too dangerous and easier to just fit a cpc if its rusty.
