Lenny, can I use it as a plumb bob?
i.e. if I want to mark a position 5 metres from the wall on the ceiling, can I mark 5 metres on the floor, and project a point onto the ceiling? Can I then mark another point at the other end of the room, and project a line between these two points (in other words mark a straight line on the ceiling for a series of holes). Its a vaulted ceiling, so the laser will have to be able to project the line from the floor.
Hope that makes sense mate, just trying to get an idea if it will do what I need and be worth the money.

Whats the range like? It will firstly be used in a fairly dark buliding, am I likely to get 18 metres out of it?

Cheers, Dave.

I've been using mine a lot recently on this pyro job I'm on. In a lot of areas the MC hasn't installed any containment for us so we have to 'p' clip all our cables to the underside of the concrete slab. Basically I measure out the centre of the room at one end of the corridor, the same all the way down at the other end and then just project the laser between the two anywhere between 5 and 40+ meters.

It really is a brilliant piece of kit it'll do horizontal lines, vertical lines or both. It also self levels so you could mark out a grid on the wall/ceiling if you wanted.

You wont be dissapointed.

PLS for horizontal and Vertical and a Stanley plumb bob both decent kit , great for setting out d/l configerations

cant say nothing bad about this level.

lol, so you dont like it?

Have got Hilti coming out to demo one of their lasers, cant see my boss buying it, but might be able to get a rental one. If not, I'll either get a Dewalt or one of those PLS ones, have heard other people recommend them.

Focus were selling off old stock a few weeks ago and I got one for a fiver, complete with tripod.
Only needed to use it once so far when putting a series of battons up along a wall. Worked a treat, but not the brightest light.
But hey, for a fiver, it's paid for it'self a few times over already. lol

The dewalt laser is a great bit of kit tbh unfortunately I paid around the £200 mark but its still worth it. Also didn't realise or think about the tripod, might have to pick one of those up!

I've heard quite a few good reviews of it. so rather than spend less and buy cheap, again:( then find its a bag of poo, this time i'm going to splash out a little and get the Dewalt.
