Scottish Power metering

Just been called by a customer who has had their meter changed by Scottish Power, the operative would
not switch the supply back on saying that the consumer unit needed to be checked by a qualified electrician and
then sealed off the isolator with wire and crimp.
This is a two year old house with metalclad dual rcd unit, anybody come across this before?

What was his reason? Any photos?

There should have been paperwork left indicating the problem.
BUT, his / her initial investigations before starting should have highlighted any issue and if any found the meter upgrade should have been abandoned before any work done.

All you can do is ring Scottish Power and ask for the installers report, before you cut the seal, which of course will have been done by a subby of a subby of a contracted meter supplier, so best of luck getting it today.

Meanwhile the customer has no power.

He said it was standard practice. don't know if they were warned about this beforehand, you
don't always get the full story.

Sounds most unlikely. Standard practice to cut every customer off who has a meter change?

So Scottish Power never restore power after isolating for a meter change?

Do they make this clear when the appointment is made and before starting the work?

There was no concerns he just said it had to be inspected first. so I looked at it and cut the seal and switched on the isolator,
pointless exercise.
