I believe the rate increases tommorrow to 45p. I've not yet gave any readings apart from my comissioning reading.

Do I need to email one over or just record the reading for later use? I've not been sent any details yet when my readings are required.

I called British Gas about the very same. My reading is due on the 11th May.
They told me they don't need a reading as their software would calculate an approximate amount before and after 1st April.
Considering April has been especially good then I guess that some of those units could end up at 45.4p and not 43.3p. Still, it's not going to make that much difference anyway.

My FIT provider is Scottish Power, who are using a similar method of calculating the reading. I imagine there will be winners and losers here, depending on when your quarterly reading dates are and the weather. I'll certainly be taking a reading at close of play today and comparing it with SP's estimate.

OFGEM's Guidance for Licensed Electricity Suppliers doesn't seem to prohibit this dubious method of calculating FIT changeover readings ( http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Sustainability/Environment/fits/Info/Documents1/FIT Supplier Guidance.pdf - section 5.17, page 41)
