Hi
just wanted to check something with you guys.
If you tested R1 + R2 on seperate a 6a lighting circuit with just selv downlighters (using a temp link in the cu), where would you take the reading from ?

Same as always at the furthest point.

If there are many downlights throughout the building i expect the circuits will be terminated at the switches, which would make things a little easier.

Good luck!

Hi
yes because of the transformers, presumably you would you have to test at the end of the T&E (instead of the normal cpc / switch live inside the ceiling rose) otherwise no cpc / R2 in the downlighter fitting from the transformer?

hi i always test at the last light ( furthest point ) there is nothing wrong in testing at the switch
in the new gn3 it shows ( R1+R2) being taken from the switch

Testing at the last point is fine, if you only have single points in each room, But when you come to Spots you need to prove that each Spot circuit has earth to the end of its run, So in effect, test at the very last point of the circuit, but if another room has downlighters in you should also test at the last point in that downlight set up. Doe's that make sense??

Im effect when fitting downlighter in multiple rooms Your Spurring off a Radial circuit, So CPC should be checked at the end of each 'spur'.

Hi
do you test the end of the T&E as there wouldn't be a cpc from the transformer to the downlighters (so you can't test R2 by removing the bulbs) ?
