Discuss underfloor heating in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Not purchased yet but I've been looking at warmup, the new pro kit I think it's called. Nice looking thermostats and looks easy enough to Install. Lots of videos on the net. With insulation boards stat and 6m2 kit it's roughly £650. Only topps tiles sell this so no competition for getting the price down.

I installed one last year , chipboard floor underneath and laminate floor above , I cant remember the name of the system off hand , but you have to install an insulating board on the wooden floor that comes with the kit , and a probe stat also , , the wholesaler I went to had the kit designed by the manufacturer , I would be make sure the wooden floor is stable in your case as the grout and tile adhesive may loosen , but I'm sure if you go to a wholesaler you would get the same result

I personally don't see the need for insulation boards as wood is a fairly good insulator, the ditra matting made by a German company called schulter ( sorry if spelling not correct) does 3 things 1 st and most important it provides a de coupling membrane between the unstable wood and the tile as wood will expand and contact with change in temp/humidity. It also can be part of a waterproofing system and provides good impact resistance helps tile when you drop things in it. Google or u tube it, can pick it up online from tile fix direct. There are other brads out there for example g mat but I think this one is the best.
