Up until now I have steered clear of heating systems. I now have quite a bit of work with a builder and will be expected to deal with the electrical aspects of any heating systems installed.

In a few months I will be doing the electrical work for a 2 zone underfloor heating system from a combi boiler.

I would like to read up on actuators, zone valves, manifolds, pumps etc in relation to underfloor heating. Are there any good sites anyone could recommend?

The first time I was presented with an extremely complicated looking 8 channel UFH controller with 30 odd connectors inside, I took it home and 'reverse engineered' it, tracing out the circuit. Turned out it was all quite simple. 230V to each room thermostat, with the return connected to one or more zone valves. A diode from each return with all their cathodes connected together, powering a relay that controlled the pump and boiler.
That's the problem that I find with electrics intended for plumbers. It's all 'connect A to B, c to D, etc', with no indication whatsoever of what you are actually doing or how it works.

I've started watching some of these videos Oscar. Even though they are not directly related to UFH, they are extremely helpful in understanding the basics of the different heating systems with regards the electrics. I'm sure this will greatly help with UFH, which will have valves, pumps etc just as in the video clips. Many thanks.
John Ward does have such a clear way of explaining things doesn't he. I always imagine @davesparks giving talks in a similar, clear fashion, just with a few more raised eye brows for any foolishness :)
