Wall socket not working

Hi all,

I am new here.

I recently moved to a new shop, all sockets work except one. I tried to unscrew the plate cover and noticed 4 wires.
2 red and 2 black, I am not sure what to do here and why are there 4 wires and not 3?

Also do you think I should take it apart and see whats wrong? or shall I buy a new socket and replace the current one?

Please help, thanks!

please do not carry on any further .
you seem to not even recognise a basic ring circuit.
get someone with actual experience to check it out..
someone who understand fault finding and basic isolation procedures

More worrying is the lack of earth provision at the socket. Definitely get a professional in to verify the situation.

Earth would appear to be via Steel conduit, steel box, brass tab on back of plastic socket to earth pin.

That's not usually a connection method I would be familiar with reliance upon. Usually a link from containment system to earth terminal. It's certainly a requirement of the regs.

Kevlar welcome to the forum and listen to the post above and I’m just going to tell you the reason you have 4 wires. You have 2 wires feeding the socket and the other 2 wires are feeding another socket. Good luck
