25032011013.jpg upstairs lightswitch wiring

25032011014.jpg downstairs lightswitch left side work the downstairs light fine. Rightside should switch on upstairs light. Red common on left side was bridge across to the right .

I have now ran 3 core and earth to upstairs and downstairs switch but the upstairs light is not live nor are both the switchs.

i would guess that the landing light took it's L from downstairs and it's N from upstairs. the dreaded borrowede neutral.

they say just touch the neutral of the earth and if it sparks its a borrowed neutral is this correct?? aand bridging across is fine

take the switch wire from the landing light to the upstairs switch L1 & L2. then using the 3 core link the 2 switches terminal to terminal.

You need another core for supply at the landing switch for the 3 core to be used

You only have a single switchwire to the landing light from the upstairs switch
Interconnecting a 3 core between the switches cant work correctly without re introducing a supply that you had originally from the hall switch

better to feed T/E from landing light to upstairs switch. get rid of the borrowed neutral for good.
