Hi guys I have a customer who has a normal 2 way lighting circuit in her hallway she would like like it to be controlled by a pir during the night for when her son going to the toilet at night, but taken out of the circuit during the day so the two way circuit will can operate normally. Any ideas......thanks in advance

Just wire a standard PIR for lighting and set up the dusk till dawn sensor for the hallway so during the day i assue the natural light will light the hall and when it gets dark the PIR will over-ride the light switch.

Take mains supply from the lighting circuit concerned to the PIR and then take switch wire from PIR direct to light fitting sw/terminal

It goes without saying you need to ensure the existing circuit is safe and meets the standards it was wired under and the additions you do comply with the 17th which depending on install methods could require you to upgrade to include rcd protection.
If your confused by any of this please use a qualified competent Electrician ... im guessing your not an electrician as this set-up is very basic.

PS Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Darkwood I am a spark just getting back into proper electrical work but been the t.v game for a while so didn't have a lot to do with pirs before.once again thanks for the help.

i am sure cef do a low energy lamp with a PIR fitted in them , so just swap them over , tell the woman to turn the light switch the on before bed , sorted!! might do u out a wiring job tho

you can buy a dusk till dawn light which sits in a socket outlet and will light up the area enough to see where your going, a tenner from Tesco??? Job done no problem, I have one myself haha

you can by a PIR with a photocell built in in the so you get the best of both worlds and they are small and discreet try DANLERS copd outdoor security swith....perfect!

Most lighting pir's have built in adjustable photocell Tom it shows a moon and a sun on the adjustable setting ...hate to steal your thunder here ...
