Do you mean this forum?? lol

Who exactly have you been asking?

The could be several answers or solutions, the first being a visual check to see whether it is a single phase or three phase supply, incoming cable sizes, condition of incoming cabling etc, carry out testing to ensure that it all complies etc

The other would be to contact the DNO and ask your questions.

All of the above would be checked with your installation design.

this sounds like a good answer but what kind of test would you do to find out if the supply is suitable?

ill give you another example of question written, "State how you would find out, what earthing requirements you have for your installation?"
you cant say im being vague when that's whats on the sheet!

Just remember safety when answering questions, safest way I would contact someone else to check or who knows. Lol

Or you could say investigation carrying out visual and applying specific tests. Again safely

for the question "State how you would find out, what earthing requirements you have for your installation" would this answer be correct.
i would measure the earth fault impedance, insulation resistance and make sure the results are up to standard as stated in the iet wiring regulations bs7671.
i would also do a visual inspection to make sure earth sleeving is used, back boxes are used, there is no damage to the main earth cable and all necessary pipes are correctly bonded.

With regards to the earthing question it just doesn't makes sense...

As you are most probably aware there are three main different types of earthing arrangement to bear in mind, TT, TN-S and TNC-S.

My understanding of the the question is that it is asking how you would find out which is being used and it is matches the design you are working to.. Perhaps I've read it wrong but its pretty much the same answer as my original post.

Visual and contact DNO.

They will be referring to the type of installation that is in your scenario, ie , if it is a building site you may not be allowed a certain type of supply, if it is in an office block this may be allowed. You could contact the DNO but they may only tell you the type of supply .(if you are lucky, usually they will only talk to the account holder) The answers they give you may still not be suitable. One supply that is not allowed on a building site is in bs7671 - the regs book
