How many devices?

Not intended as a peeing contest, but genuinely wondering what the average house (OK, it's here so the average sparkies house...) has in terms of connected LAN/Wifi devices. I've just been messing about with ours (no thanks to Sky Business...) and counted up the active/recent devices on the router - it's roughly 40 unique, which sounds crazy if it wasn't 2025.

Top of my head… about 30 in the house that I can account for… but doesn’t include devices that have been connected, but no longer are there. Old phones, visitors phones etc.

I’ve got BTs standard hub you get with the account. Had it for years.

Reminds me the skyQ box has been losing connection, twice last week, for no reason. Maybe time for a new one of them

Interesting. I say that as most domestic grade ISP routers are only good for 20-25 connections as far as I can tell. I moved to a business service at home purely to benefit from fixed IP and a decent(ish) router. Yes, Ibiquiti, yadda yadda yadda.....

Wow.

Home now and had a look. Over all the years I’ve used the same SSID, changing the default when I got a new hub to the original one, rather than changing all the devices…. So over the 17 years I’ve lived here, the hub has picked up 173 devices that have all connected at some point in the past.

Currently connected is 17

My domestic EE Fibre WiFi 6 Smart router claims max 190 connections.

But as it's just me I only have 7 active connections plus another 6 or so visitors.

It can all add up quick
smart home stuff like cameras, sockets, lights thermostats etc, there's 10 to 20 even for a modest install.

My (African) internet is still on copper line and it's capped at 100 gigs per month. When my kids are at home there's 10 devices that connect to my ADSL router and for the six months of the year they're not here there's 4 devices. I have a few devices such as our new TV that want to connect but I told them no way José.

Just a quick count I can think of around 25 devices. Can't check the actual figure as I'm 400+ miles from home until Friday evening.

There are only the 2 of us in the house now, nothing in the way of smart home stuff, just a handful of Sonos speakers.
I count 16 devices.

and one other gadget I'm unwilling to disclose!

I live a very simpled, non-automated life.
If I want to switch a light on, I get up and go to the switch.
If I want to switch my heating on when I'm away from home I used to phone my neighbour who also sorted my mail and watered my only houseplant. Unfortunately for me, she moved house a few weeks ago and I have yet to train the new neighbours!
