Discuss 11kv transformer and bonding to gate housing in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

private or dno transformer ?

edit ; thinking about it , it must be a private TX otherwise dno would fit their own earthing.

as posted below , WTF ? lol.

If you are taking about bonding the gate or fence surrounding the TX, then UKPN stipulate 70mm2.
You need to look at the earthing configuration between HV and LV. If they are combined at the TX, the surrounding coupled earth electrodes need to be below 1 ohm (before cables are connected) to limit the touch voltage being imported into the LV installation, in the event of a HV fault.

Well I've never ventured this far before , but we working on old barracks and have to bond the gates with transformer , one guy said 95mm as is 185mm conductors which I thought woooo , and the cherry dropped

That 70mm size would be minimum.

Never seen a combined MV/LV earthing system on a TX sub-station combined, and for very good reason!! Not saying that it's never done, but it's not something i would ever contemplate doing!! lol!!
