Discuss 2394/5 pass rates? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

All on the city and guilds website. Just type in the course number and then press either course documents or additional documents. The 2395 I did in December only 24% of people who took it passed!

I've just had my results back today and failed, but got a credit on one of the exams! Took a week off work and immersed myself in all 3 books (osg gn3 regs) so i'm a bit bemused to say the least.

Yep,agreed, bad luck fella.Practice,practice,practice.Biffs alluded to a cruel truth in that not possible to become confident AND competent on the testing side,in days.I am NOT at all saying this applies to the OP and with a break and a fresh look at it,you'll get there pal.

this is why you failed.......
did you really think that one week of study was going to cut it?
what i cant understand either is how you can get a credit....and fail....
dont get that me....

These pass rates don't look good all. I'm doing mine in June and hoping for a miracle lol

the pass rates are a reflection on the suitability of candidates for this exam. this hinges on:

how much experience does the candidate have?

does the candidate have a good understanding/working knowledge of BS7671?

how much effort had the candidate made in regards preperation for this exam?

is the candidate generally suitable for this particular course?

lots of parameters here.....
but they all count....and i think its jolly unfair for these `training centres` to continue accepting candidates who are clearly not up to the level required at that particular time in their development. Candidates are supposed to be vetted to ensure their suitability.....
all this seems to have been glossed over in the heat of the action...
the heat of the action being sell sell sell these courses at all costs with no regard to whether or not the candidate has any hope of passing...
this phenomenon started when it was the 2391.....and so it continues...

I agree with every word you said mate but city and guilds are as bad as the others they set the standards.

but they also give guidelines to training centres as to the suitability of candidates as a safety net...
thses are continuously being flouted by said training centres in the interests of making a fast buck....

but its good that these reports are put in here for the edification of all future candidates.....study them...study them well.....
what seems to be coming back loud n clear every month is the candidates distinct lack of correct terminology....and its will be these silly marks dropped that will have cost some of em...and not understanding safe isolation procedure and when & how to apply it & dead testing etc...
