I am trying to install a new fixture and want to bring power to it by adding a single pole switch to a box containing another single pole switch. I believe its the end of the circuit as both black and neutral wires are hot. How do i add the new switch to it? I made pigtails, ran them from the black feed to each switch, joined the neutral from the feed and the neutral coming in from the fixture, and hooked the black coming from the fixture to the available post on the new switch. Im getting power at the fixture, buts its not working or the light doesnt turn on. Have i made a wiring mistake or do you suspect there is a problem somewhere along the circuits line?

If you only have one black and one white the white is not likely to be neutral but a hot return.
