After giving up a full time job to retrain as an electrician i wonder why i bothered when im in catch 22.

CANT GET WORK WITHOUT EXPERIENCE

CANT GET EXPERIENCE WITHOUT A JOB

West Cumbria based, I just got email off NRL about new school build in Carlisle but they not after any more personnel at this moment in time.

I have been looking for a Mates role since last September when i started college to do my c&g 2330 and NVQ Level 2, College have told me I cannot do Level 3 NVQ without an employer and I am frantically trying to get a work placement.

The number of employers I have wrote too nust be in the hundreds now and I am quite fed up of getting letters saying, "Sorry we have no vacancies at present we will keep you on file".
Most employers dont even reply....it goes to show you can have all the qualifications in the world but if you have no work experience then your screwed.

I have even told employers about the government TRAIN 2 GAIN programme where the company gets £5 per hour towards your wages, If I am employed on minimum wage that means they only have to pay me 80 pence per hour and they still not buying it.

I am truly at the end of my wits with it all.

What on earth do these electrical companys want outta people?

Hi & welcome.:)
