Hi All,
I'm a retired spark and separate double ovens and hobs (induction) weren't around in my day. I did mostly power station work after a few years domestic. My daughter asked me to wire in her double oven and hob, however the rating on the double oven says, Oven A .77kW per cycle and similar for oven B. I'm afraid I don't understand "kW per cycle" other than the loading of a washing machine. I don't know any oven rated less than a kW. It's an Electrolux KDFCC00XC. Can any one explain.
I propose to run 2 x 4sqmm circuits, 40amp mcb/rcbo. Any comment on this. Thank for your attention

@Risteard will confirm this but I believe only Registered Electrical Contractors can carry out this work in Southern Ireland. If you are not a REC you are breaking the law.

Indeed, quite recent, but there's no certification required when there's no connection to the mains, I appreciate the need for the public to be sure the person is a registered contractor/qualified electrician, which incidentally doesn't stop people doing shoddy work. besides and my daughters knows I'ma qualified electrician but retired, and there's many a diy person still doing electrical work. What amazes me is how there's no certification required in Ireland for car repairs with the hundreds of deaths on the road.
Thanks for the advice but not exactly what I was looking for.
Best Regards

a 6mm cable on a 32A MCB will be more than adequate for both ovens and induction hob.

Thank you Telectrix, I'll use that.
Is it a requlation to use two isolating switches, one for each piece, or a personal preference. Asking around I believe it's done.

I meant a personal preference because of distance between hob and ovens

another of my posts deleted, even though it was on topic. why?????

Yes if these are new circuits then that is the case. In fact removing the cover of the DB would be a breach of the law.

That's not actually correct. There is a legal requirement for certification even where the cert is not required to facilitate an ESB connection.

It is a rule that the isolator must be within two meters of the appliance. Where the isolator serves both an oven and hob, then it must be within two meters of both appliances. See ET101:2008 incorporating Amendment 3 (2018) - ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations, Fourth Edition.

Note that I.S. 10101 (5th Edition National Rules for Electrical Installations) is due to be released imminently by the NSAI.

Having worked on Electrolux products for many years for the manufacturer, Personally I would run two separate circuits, as the induction hob can push it to the limit. I would rate both circuits at 32A and have two separate 45A DP switches.

my hob only draws milliamps for a second or so. trainees,..... why???
