Hi guys, been a while since I was on here last. Hope all is good,

Im finishing my HNC and NVQlvl3 by summer time, anyone got any advice on where to go from there? (job wise). I know NQV's don't necessarily dont go hand-in-hand with HNC's, as HNC's are more for engineers, but as an electrical mate for years, Ive always hated engineers coming to see me and telling me to do it their way..when you know half of them have never stuck a bit on conduit up! So I chose the NVQ as a sort of proof to myself and others that I can work on the tools as-well as the engineering side.

Just wondering really where to go on from here. HNC doesn't really open up a million doors but id like to see what other people here with similar qualifications do, or if you know anyone that's doing something interesting it would be nice to read about..

Cheers

I'm just wondering why you have invested 3 years of hard slog without having a scobby doo of where or what you want this HNC level 4 qualification to do for you. One thing's for sure, it won't give you any arguments against a Resident Engineers site instruction on installation work.

Workwise look towards junior Engineer positions, or if working with your hands still appeals to you, look for industrial production line maintenance, where most such companies now, are looking for technicians with ONC/HNC certification.

I don't know if it's still the same, but when I did my hnc on completion of academic training there was a requirement to work at a certain level of responsibility for a year before the hnc would be awarded(20 yrs ago) . Don't know if that is the same now, but worth investigating as it might affect what job you seek next,
