Hi all

Am in progress of filling out contractor forms for an emergency call out firm.

Im have to send a rates form in .

Just wondering what you guys would list on rates ? .... £40 call out pus £15 ph after first hour ( plus materials) ?

No mileage is paid

Noting that this is based on the south wales area.

Many thanks

£35 callout then £10 per 30mins after the 1st 30 mins. add 50% for after 5pm, then 100% after 9pm.

Is your call out for private or a housing association ?

im asking as i want to submit a competitive rate.

Im not looking to get rich of it by any means. but if could turn out to be a ' bread and butter contract' .

These rates sound about right you have to think you could be called out any time of night and to the Max distance of 25 miles ! Best thing to keep on van for emergency's are tails and bs88 fuses also a 17th edition board just in case a temp won't do , good luck mate

so if i say .......£40 per call out plus £18 for each hr after 1st......seem fair ?

tel seems like a knowledgeable and well respected member from what i've seen in my short time here. why not go with his idea. 1/2 hr billing may be advantageous

Is this for normal hours 8am - 5pm £18 / hr seems a bit light and both figures are to low for out of hours and weekends

Very good point ! ....so im going to submit exatcly that :-)

SDCO £50, if available.
£45/hr door to door, minimum 1 hr on site plus travel, on site billed in 1/4's
50p/mile
Out of hours weekdays + 50% on rate
Weekends, week nights, bank holidays + 100% on rate minimum, but it depends on what I have on.
Works for me, busy as I can cope with, and in South Wales.
No guaranteed call out's, it's just if I feel like it.
If customers don't like it then they can go elsewhere, this is not negotiable.

The trouble with bread and butter contracts they tend to end up as loss leaders and it's then down to what cream there may be to make it worth while

In the first hour on site charge you have to factor in travel time and in your case fuel and vehicle costs.
One off out of hours call outs can soon end up costing you the following day with lost sleep on the the other side this has to worked in with how much work they are likely to pass to you 8 1 hour call outs at £40 a time in a day could get you £320 or will it be one call out of 8 jobs which will end up getting you £180 (assuming £20/hr after call out) but with increased costs

Had few customers over the years who have tried to manipulate call out terms to suit themselves so take care how you quote
