Hi, just helping someone out and apologies for the long winded post.
Would like install a couple of weatherproof double sockets on the patio.
1 double socket for a bar fridge
1 double for a 2.4KW plug in wall mounted heater.
Unfortunately the house consumer unit has no spare ways and the downstairs 32A ring incorporates the kitchen sockets as well which does back on to the patio.
The garage also backs onto the patio and has its own consumer unit 6 A MCB for lighting & 16A MCB for a radial wired in 2.5mm T&E, there are no spare ways.
The existing garage radial has 2 or 3 sockets running the garage door, treadmill & tumble dryer now and then.
He doesn’t want to overall the garage so can I install 2 13A FCUs to power each socket 1 for the bar fridge and 1 for the 2.4 KW heater.
Each double socket will run no more than 5m externally in 2.5mm T&E contained in conduit fixed to the wall.

Many thanks Matt

Why weatherproof sockets when the fridge and the heater won’t be weatherproof themselves??

The existing 16A radial will be fine to add this to…. As long as there is rcd protection

Hi, many thanks for your reply, regarding the sockets just trying to protect from the elements as much as I can.

Unfortunately can’t guarantee RCD protection at the moment.
Once I do confirm or not RCD protection
It’s ok to fuse down those two additional loads 2.4 KW & 1.1 KW?
The remaining/ existing loads in the garage will be carried by the 16A MCB.

Why would you want to fuse them?
The RCD should now be a type A plus it is likely you could upgrade the protective device to 20A. What protective device supplies supports the garage consumer unit?
