After some scoundrels robbed all my stuff I have had to get a new voltage tester. Two in fact. A fluke t150 and a a fluke t110. But unlike the ones I had these don't seem to have the ability to turn off the annoying bleeper. I have tried holding the light button for two seconds but it's no good.

Aside from opening them up and permanently turning off the annoying sounds is there a way of making these damn things shut up? The constant bleeping is highly annoying. I guess its a new safety feature but I don't like it so I'm hoping it's me being daft and there is a way to shut it up.

Cheers

I just checked my T150. If you hold down the button for maybe 3 or 4 seconds, a symbol appears on the top left of the screen, showing the sound is off. Press and hold again til the symbol disappears and the sound is back on. I checked in continuity mode and also on my proving unit, and it works fine for both.

I just tried it again. And no luck. On either unit.

I think fluke have removed this feature. Mine are both 2022 models made in UK (*from back of the units).

So it's a warning that fluke no longer give you quite mode for any sparks on here. Quality also seems to have gone down. Straight out of the box the little black tips got caught in the plug section. Had to use pliers to get them out. I've stuck some electrical tape on them to hold them - but I expected a bit better from fluke tbh.

That's a pity. I checked mine, made in UK according to the label. Mine was a replacement, following the recall due to dodgy leads, but I can't remember exactly when I got it, but I think maybe 2 years ago. Out of interest, does yours still have the mute symbol and button to press for 2 secs?

No it doesn't have a mute button.

It is a shame.

According to Fluke's own literature, you hold the light button for 2 seconds - this applies to T110, T130 & T150.
Yes and that used to work.

But I have a new t110 and a t150 abs it doesn’t work. Both are dated 2022. There is no volume label next to the light button.

Plus there is nothing in the printed instructions about how to do it. So fluke must have removed this feature. It must be a new thing.

I was wondering if there was a way to do it. But it seems like there is not. Apart from opening them up and disabling the speaker. Which I don’t want to do as rarely I might use the continuity feature for basic fault finding.

I’m not sure why fluke would do this. I can only presume it’s deemed safer in some way. But the people selling them are not advertising this and it’s naughty in my opinion. Many will find out when they come to replace their voltage indicators that they are made permanently noisy now.
