Hi All,

I have recently moved into a new build house and we are looking to install garden lights. We had a electrician round and he said that he would spur off a socket (on ring main) on the rear wall via a RCD connection unit and then into a IP rated enclosure on the house wall. From the external junction box then run SWA cable at a depth of 500mm to the position of garden lights.

I just wanted to check that this is the correct way he should be doing it and was to current regulations.

Thanks
Carl

Get him to do it but minus the rcd outside your quote should be £35 cheaper

just what i was thinking. as long as the circuit is RCD protected, then i'd use a D/P FCU so that, in the event of a fault on the garden , both L and N could be isolated.
