... the side of electronic engineering that is :)

Wanted to say Hi to everyone, I have been soaking up as many posts as I can read in the evenings
Earth Bonding, pearls of wisdom from time served sparkies, the good the bad and Part P

Have no fear I am not about to become a Electrical Trainee or anything like that, I have not long got my first house
and am faced with all the niggles of the electrical DIY, CU 1 RCD only rest MCBs, bathroom extractor was disconnected,
pushed in then tiled over (only noticed cos of the vent outside), etc etc

so I may not post again for awhile as I will probably be reading up on more posts here
then I'll be off to create a wiring diagram of the whole house so I know what I am going
to be dealing with at some point.

Since I am from an electronic engineering background it does make me OCD about specs and safety
and with all the qualifications and certs and re-training you all have to do to stay upto date, I salute you all

I am here to learn the ways of the electricians from a 'Competant' DIY'er point of view
I have no interest to do any other work except on my own property, to make it electricaly safe

oh and to read some of your site stories from time to time :)

All the Best

Welcome! 30 years in radio, telecoms & electronics prior to going it alone at 50Hz!

Same principles apply - just a much lower frequency and higher current!

And Ohms law still gets you out of most fixes ;-)
