Good morning everybody,

I’ve been asked to look at a job to install a 3 phase compressor in a body shop.

It is a 3 phase 20a machine which is fine, the only issue is the lay out.

The consumer unit and compressor are sitting outside the workshop but the mechanic has asked if I could put a switch inside that controls it (the unit is fairly big and I understand he doesn’t want to keep walking outside to turn it on / off).

Now I’d normally just put a 3 phase isolator next to the machine and be done with it but is there a way he could have a local switch to him that turns it on / off?

all the best, ET

just add a second isolator in series, or even a stop button if the control circuit for the compressor has the facility

Often remote start is available on the compressor control panel
What is the make and model?

Where is the starter installed?

There is nothing that says you have to fit an isolator next to the machine. I can go inside as long as it is labeled and lockable.
