Last night I went to view a house with my mate that he is thinking of buying just to get an impression of the state of the electrics.

All looked rosey till I asked the owner of the house where the CU/Fuse Box was... blank faces followed!! Was then directed to a cupboard under the stairs where the meter was and all I found was meter tails into a 100amp isolator... no C/U!!!

On spotting this I asked the customer "Where do you go when a fuse blows or trips?" answer..... "We've never had a fuse go!" eek.

Has anyone else every come across this situation?

Going to recommend to my mate that he asks for a PIR to be performed on the place by the customers before proceeding...

ive seen similar once, it was a TT installation, and everything was fed on chockblocks. it was my mates gfs mums house. she moved out soon after and it was refurbed. i couldnt beleive it. not an earth in sight, (wouldnt of made a difference anyway, no RCD)

shocking. Surely it cant be

If true it might get a nice bit of cash knocked off the price! Then cue muggings to get the work done!

I've seen some good things out there but this one took the biscuit!

Have to say seen this many a time in older European install ........France for example where you have a 32amp 100mA RCD feeding a box full of coonectors going off to various appliances, but never in the UK, but always a first time for everything.

I've seen a house with the dno cut off goiung to a 100a isolator then to the db...no meter. been like that for 10 years with no bills...
Turns out the old guy who used to live in the house prior to the current owner hated that new electricity thing and had everything on gas.
