hiya, got 2 new circuit which all have led gu10's on them, led strip etc. on a 6amp b mcb, seems to be tripping the mcb intermittently, not the rcd. Most of them are controlled by dimmers, just wondering if they got a high start up current. Would it be worth sticking on a type c? Anyone had any issues like this? There is no squashing of cables behind the switches. Thanks

I've had issues with type b mcb's before but it was sockets not lights. It was all to do with the inrush and they were too sensitive. Try a type c and see if it solves it

Earth loop impedance first and refer to bgb (80%) to make sure circuit still complies.
C is half max zs of a B.

if you are dealing with inrush....
then why the hell would you think the RCD would let go?

Several questions spring to mind.
1.Have you carried out IR tests?
2.Why are you looking for 'squashed cables behind switches'?
3.Have you tested the RCD,it may not be functioning causing the MCB to operate on a fault? However a fault will have been discovered on the IR tests you have already done...right?
4.How much load is on the circuit...have you done a load test with a clamp meter?
5.Does the mcb only trip on switch on or in use?....it is simple to check for inrush current issues, switch the MCB off...turn on all the lights...switch MCB on,if there is a high inrush it will trip as you switch it on.(Only after eliminating all of the above)
