Hey guys
To introduce myself Im 29 and been working in offices for the past 10 years and just come to the realisation I find it pretty soul destroying and left my previous job just as this outbreak took hold! I dont think humans are designed to sit in offices for 8-12 hours a day!
Decided on a career as an electrician as I want to be doing something physical but also like problem solving and something where you have to think! Also I remember (way back!) when i was at school really enjoying electronics.
Im feeling kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place with regard to how to move forward. I want to get qualified ASAP and the best way appears to be one of these courses that can do it quickly but from reading around this forum they appear to be pretty frowned on. Im not expecting to just walk into a job someone with years of experience should be doing but im thinking maybe get qualified to level 3 and work as mate for a while to get a better understanding of the industry. Given my age I want to be up to speed as quick as possible but at the same time i dont want to be cutting any corners. Plus i dont know how tough it will be to find work even as a mate without industry experience?
Ive got some home study stuff from one of these course providers (Able Skills) given theres not much else I can do in the current situation and I'm finiding it useful. A lot of the science of it is just cleaning off the rust from what a learned at school (did a GCSE in electronics and an A level in physics) but im not under any illusions of the amount I need to learn about installations, wiring and regulations etc.
Would really appreciate peoples opinions the best way to proceed!
Cheers
