Discuss MR16 halogens not working - faulty transformer? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi there

Bought a flat and have three non-functioning MR16 50w halogens. I know at least one of these stopped working directly after water damage.

Tried changing the bulbs - no luck - so is the next most likely thing the transformers?

I had a look and think I can see the transformer as a black box the wiring is connected to. I'm definitely not an expert - is this the most likely thing that's wrong and how much should they cost to replace?

Firstly how bad was the water damage?
next thing would be the transformer there just LV so 240 -12v £5ish pound each tranny.
What was the cause of the water damage?

could be the trannies. also check the lamp holders for signs of damage.

1)crap lamp
2)crap connection (normally burned out)
3)crap transformer
4)They've set fire to the house

In that order normally :)
