Discuss New cable thread/pull rod kit ? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

I’ve got whatever CEF was selling cheap at the time. 2 sets, but one has lost half the rods and the accessories. Handy for the short reaches.

Still got a bit of string with lead weight on the end for hollow walls.

Used to use bits of fence wire often as a youngster, with a bend on the end.
Fishing over the top of a false ceiling trying to hook a new cable in among a rats nest of old ones.

Thought I’d got it…. I hadn’t.
Hooked end pierced through a live t&e and blew the end off.

I use fibre glass rods as used in Roman blinds. They are cheap, come in lengths up to 5m and sometimes more, coil up for storage, and obviously have no joints. The length is useful fishing above ceilings, you can tape two or more together in some cases, and if you get one jammed completely, well it's only a couple of quid so just cut it off and leave it. Obviousky, you can just tape various hooks or chains on the end.
I have Super Rods too which are fine for small jobs, but so many joints needed to make a really useful length.
