Hello all,

My name is Glen and I am currently in the Air Force, I will be leaving in 12 months (time served). I am looking into becoming an electrician I have always enjoyed working 'hands on' and I think this could be a good fit. Now, I have been offered the following courses

CITB Full Scope
C&G 2393 Building Regs Lvl3
C&G 2382 17th Edition Wiring Reg Lvl3
JIB ECS H&S Certificate

My question is, would you give me an electrician's mate job on the back of this? If not, what would I have to get in terms of qualifications to make this happen? I would really appreciate the input. This is a big decision for me after serving 22 years in the military I'm a little isolated from the job market, so any advice will be gratefully received.

Neil,

Those courses are the ones provided by the CTP(resettlement), there is no cost for these courses. As somebody that has no experience in the trade do you think it would be a good place to start, or just a waste of my time? I do have ELC's to use but its finding a provider local to me that is a bit of an issue.

Thanks for the advice, very useful.
