I've finished a PIR yesterday and am just going over the paperwork. I just realised that I need to go back and do a phase check on the incoming 3-phase power lines. I've told the client I'll pop back in to do it but he has asked if I will need to shut down the power to the building to do this, I normally do this on a dead DU on the live side. I have a fluke multi-tester, is the phase test a passive test so that I can do the test without cutting the power or will I have to cut the power to the installation to do the test ?

Thanks in advance for your replies
Andy

just stick your phase rotation test probes on with installation energised. it's a live test so no need to isolate installation.just try not to blow anything.
